Not sure where to stay for your trip to Malaysia? Here are the epic stays we experienced, and we can’t wait for you to book your trip!
We can honestly say, travelling in Malaysia was amazing! And the places we stayed at definitely contributed to this. We stayed at places with infinity pools, in skyscrapers with the best views of the city, overlooking the water, amongst the tea fields and in the middle of nature. It really was an unforgettable experience and we’ve linked each accommodation option below for you to experience the same.
Kuala Lumpur
This place has an amazing infinity pool overlooking the Petronas Towers and Kuala Lumpur city. The pool is busy most of the time as it is shared between hotel guests, residents and those who stay through AirBnB, however early and late are the best times to visit. But it is worth it, especially for that epic insta photo. The apartments are nice and spacious with plenty of room for everyone. There is a full-sized bathroom, and bedroom with a living space all overlooking the city.
Another favourite place of ours to stay at in Kuala Lumpur is here. This apartment feels like home. There is a full-sized kitchen, living space with dining table, balcony overlooking the Kuala Lumpur city and the Petronas towers, a massive bed, with a full-sized free-standing bath in the window!! This is the highlight of the apartment. This place is really like an escape and a perfect place to relax. The night views from the bath or balcony are worth the night in. This place might seem a little far further away from the city centre, but it isn’t. It’s only a short walk to the Petronas Towers and a massive shopping centre. With some delicious local food places nearby.
Langkawi
After experiencing the city, an island escape is what you need and this is the place. Cloud Nine is tucked away amongst the rice fields on the island with an idyllic view of the countryside. The pool overlooks the rice fields, and it is such a peaceful place to relax. Breakfast is provided each morning next to the pool (a great way to start the day), the meals are basic, but they have everything you need. There are lots of small geckos around, they are so cute. So, keep an eye out for them.
Penang - Georgetown
Georgetown is an island town, which is very easy to get around with some cool places to check out. Though, first the AirBnB we stayed in had the most amazing views over the city. we really don’t think it could get better than this. It was the best way to wake up in the morning, with the light streaming in. The apartment was in a great location, with delicious local food close by, and a short walk to any other restaurants and bars.
Ipoh
We stayed in a Hello Kitty themed room, and it was insane! EVERYTHING was pink or red and in Hello Kitty décor! It’s a fun experience, but it is very over the top. The AirBnB provided parking in the apartment block, and it was a short walk to the centre of town, and it is such a nice place to visit. The town centre is very artsy with lots of street art and old buildings around. Be sure to check it out. A fun experience for sure.
Cameron Highlands
A visit to the Cameron Highlands is a must on any trip to Malaysia, even if it is to just escape the heat. Cameron Highlands is a mountain village, and it can get quite cool there. There is plenty to see and do, although some does feel a bit touristy. We stayed a short drive out of town, but it was very quiet and peaceful there, surround by such a lush green environment. There was a full-sized kitchen and living space, with the bedroom located in the best spot overlooking the mountains. Watching the sunset from here was dreamy.
Kota Kinabalu
Now, a trip to Malaysia is not complete without a little side trip to Borneo, a wilderness getaway. This place had an amazing infinity pool overlooking the ocean and nearby islands, definitely a spot to relax while watching sunset. Though the AirBnB has a full-sized kitchen, it is in the heart of the city making it very easy to find places to eat and to access the islands for a bit of island hopping. If you have a car, you can also go on a day trip to visit the orangutans at the Orang-utan Sanctuary – an amazing experience.
